The iconic Cape Town MET returns on Saturday, 25 January 2025, drawing both sports fans and social butterflies to one of the most highly anticipated fixtures on the country’s racing calendar.
The 2025 World Sports Betting Cape Town MET gets under way on 25 January 2025 at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse, unleashing a kaleidoscope of culture, creativity and couture this summer.
The iconic annual event, now in its 163rd year, gathers attendees from around the globe in Cape Town to witness the world's finest thoroughbreds compete for glory amidst a dazzling display of style and entertainment.
The Cape Town MET is more than just a horse racing event; it is a celebration of fashion, culture, and community.
This year's theme, Couture Unleashed, invites limitless possibilities in fashion, merging avant-garde artistry with timeless elegance.
Guests can expect intricate embellishments, luxurious fabrics, and bold silhouettes that capture the essence of South Africa’s diverse spirit.

Hosted at one of the oldest racecourses in South Africa, Hollywoodbets Kenilworth provides a picturesque setting for an exhilarating day of racing.
The programme includes three Grade 1 feature races: The World Sports Betting Cape Town MET, the Maine Chance Farms Majorca Stakes, and the HKJC World Pool Cape Flying Championship.
The World Sports Betting Cape Town MET will see 16 of the country’s finest thoroughbreds competing for an impressive R5 million stake - more than double the R2 million prize offered in 2024 for the same race.
In addition to the racing excitement, the day will feature a stellar lineup of live performances by Craig Lucas, Jarrad Ricketts, iconic drag superstars Vida Fantabisher, Manila von Teez, Kat Gilardi and RiRi Rouge, and more.
